Planning for the future
THINKING AHEAD FOR CARERS/PARENTS OF DISABLED CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
This workshop enables parents/carers to make plans for the future. This includes planning for themselves as well as those they care for. Sometimes, parents/carers of children and young people are not aware that when the child turns 18, they legally become adults in their own rights, whether they are disabled or not.
The United Kingdom has laws in place to safeguard the welfare of it's citizens especially relating to decision making. For parents/carers, there will be occasions where they are asked to justify some of the decisions they make for those they care for. It also clarifies some of the incorrect information provided by professionals in relation to decision making.
